This video was made in partnership with life-long residents of the Afikpo waterfront in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria who participated in our trainings and who were equipped with camera-enabled cell phones. The video represents a maturation of the Media for Justice Project towards more participant-made co-productions. Our view is that the more people equipped and trained to make media in their communities, the more their ideas, aspirations, and takes on life will be shared and heard.
This is especially important for people livining in marginalised communities who face human right violations isolation, poverty and lack of justice to tell their own stories. This will increase community voices and ensure that marginalised communities use alternative methods in engaging with governance agencies and representatives at the state and national levels of governance.
