The DATACAB Environmental data analytic portal enables users to simplify environmental incident data and contents, presenting them in simplified infographic charts that can be easily used by strategic stakeholders for environmental analysis, strategic advocacy and targeted Intervention. Using a simplified data analysis platform, the DATACAB portal will totally reinvigorate grassroot participation in environmental protection and climate change adaptation. The data platform is optimised for mobile devices and provides a simplified user interface that supports data inputs compilations and analysis. Resulting analysed information will be grouped and presented in simplified infographic contents, charts and geospatial visual maps using coordinate technology for accurate referencing of identified locations.
Oil Spill Data on the portal are culled from the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) website, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and verified reports from trained community environmental monitors and reporters. MAJI has also installed Raspberry Pi Single board air quality sensors to monitor Particulate Matter pollution (P.M 1.0, 2.5, 10) levels across key areas in Rivers State, Nigeria. DATACAB PORTAL - OIL SPILL MONITORING and AIR QUALITY DATA
Following the deployment of the air monitoring sensors across the various locations in Rivers state, the Media Awareness and Justice initiative (MAJI) analysed collected data and used the resulting analysis for the development of an environmental air quality factsheet which shows preliminary levels of particulate matter pollution in target areas in Rivers state.
